How to Use the Shokunin USA Pocket Knife Sharpener Steel Rod
Achieving a sharper edge on your knife with the Shokunin USA Pocket Knife Sharpener Steel Rod is both simple and efficient. Follow these steps to ensure optimal sharpening results:
Identify the Original Edge Angle: Start by determining the original angle of your knife's edge. Most knives have an edge angle between 15 to 20 degrees. It's crucial to match this angle during sharpening to maintain the integrity of the blade's edge.
Position the Knife: Hold the knife in one hand and the steel rod sharpener in the other. Ensure the edge of the blade faces away from you for safety.
Find the Correct Angle: Tilt the blade to match its original angle—either 15 or 20 degrees relative to the sharpener. This angle is key to effectively honing the edge without damaging it.
Sharpening Movements:
Place the heel of the blade (the part closest to the handle) at the top of the sharpening rod.
Apply light pressure and slide the blade downward along the rod, moving towards the tip of the blade. Maintain a constant angle throughout this motion.
Repeat this sliding motion 15-20 times on one side of the blade. Ensure each stroke is smooth and controlled.
Switch Sides: After completing one side, switch to the other side of the blade. Repeat the sliding motion 15-20 times to ensure an even sharpness across the edge.
Consistency is Key: Throughout the sharpening process, it's crucial to keep the angle steady and apply uniform pressure to each stroke. This consistency ensures a sharp and durable edge.
Test the Sharpness: Carefully test the sharpness of your knife on a piece of paper or a vegetable. The knife should slice through effortlessly if properly sharpened.
Clean the Knife: After sharpening, wipe the blade with a damp cloth to remove any metal filings and then dry it thoroughly.
The Shokunin USA Pocket Knife Sharpener Steel Rod is designed for ease of use, providing a convenient and effective way to maintain the sharpness of your knives. With regular use, you can ensure your blades are always in peak condition, ready for any task at hand.

Purchase and Delivery were Seamless!
I have been buying knives for my sons, now 22 and 25, since they were born. Over the years, I’ve purchased unique inexpensive knives and well-made, moderately priced ones. These beautifully designed knives are the nicest I’ve chosen, and my sons were truly impressed—they’ll be highlights in their collections.
